UMIDIGI Z Pro is built upon a 64-bitHelioMediaTek Helio X27 (MT6797X) system-on-chip, manufactured in a 20 nm process. It aims to put the signature deca-core CPU architecture of MediaTek to a whole new level of balance between performance and power efficiency. The tri-cluster structure of the CPU includes two 2.6GHz Cortex-A72 cores, four 2GHz Cortex-A53 cores and another four of those, but clocked at 1.6GHz. The graphics department is ruled by an 875MHz quad-core Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. According to MediaTek, 'The powerful CPU architecture with NEON multimedia processing engine brings PC-like browser experiences while keeping low standby power. Powerful MALI T880 MP4 GPU supporting OpenGL ES 3.1 also provides you with excellent multimedia experiences.' At the moment of writing this review, there are only three smartphones available on the market that are equipped with this chipset - the UMi Z, UMIDIGI Z Pro, and the Ulefone Gemini Pro, so there is not much base for comparison. The Helio X27 chipset is part of the X20 family of SoCs, all of which are manufactured in the 20nm process, like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. The closest to the X27 is the Helio X25 (MT6797T) SoC with two 2.5GHz Cortex-A72 cores, four 2GHz Cortex-A53 cores, and four 1.55GHz Cortex-A53 cores. We have reviewed three smartphones with the X25 on board - the Elephone S7 Special Edition, Vernee Apollo, and Meizu Pro 6. UMIDIGI Z Pro scored 99241 points in AnTuTu

, which is an expected result if we look at the scores of X25-based smartphones. Meizu Pro 6 is the only exception as it scored 101157 points, which is quite an impressive result. However, in both Rightmark tests - the Basemark OS II and Basemark X, the Z Pro outperforms the other three models. It is the same with Geekbench 4. Vellamo shows lower results, compared to Meizu Pro 6 ones, but in general these are excellent results. For example, in the browser section it even outperforms with a little the OnePlus 3T. The performance results on GFXBench, 3DMark's Sling Shot and Ice Storm, and PCMark Work 2.0 are a mixed bag, too. Most are really close and the Z Pro outperforms in most cases the other smartphones, having as an actual competitor only Meizu Pro 6. For sure with this smartphone you will enjoy a smooth gameplay, lag-free browsing and video playing. However, we must say that during testing and gaming, the device tends to become very hot. This model is equipped with 4GB of LPDDR3, double-channel RAM clocked at 800MHz. Using the older generation of RAM is a standard for most smartphones originating from China, but the capacity is generally generous enough, so you can't make an actual difference between the two. The onboard storage is eMMC 5.1 type and with a capacity of 32GB. Produced by Samsung, it can be expanded with up to 256GB via a microSD/TF card. From 32GB, 24GB are available to the user. The Androbench results are typical for an eMMC 5.1 type memory. The sensors provided in the model include a proximity, light, accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, and a Hall sensor. Embedded in the home button, there's a fingerprint sensor, too, with Touch ID 2.1. It is made from Microarray and has a dedicated chip that encrypts and stores your fingerprints in a totally safe way. No one can access them - not even you. The sensor is fast enough and accurate.
